Last year, inspectors from the Junta de Andalucía ordered the withdrawal from the market of 37,405 products considered hazardous to the consumer.
To strengthen controls on consumer products, the Junta de Andalucìa has approved a government decree and will be setting up ‘Red Alert Andalucía’, a system of fast exchange of information by electronic means that will improve the security guarantees to the population.
The new system will be linked to national and European networks and will cover all products which are supplied or made available to consumers and users within a business or service.
However, it will not include food, medicines and health products as these already have specific mechanisms for exchanging data.
Andalucía is the first region to implement the new decree.
