The social networking website MySpace has removed 90,000 sex offenders from its website. The total is apparently double the figure anticipated by MySpace.
Both MySpace and Facebook had earlier pledged to root out known sex offenders in an effort to make the sites safer for children.
Last month, paedophile teacher Mark Little was jailed at Chester Crown Court for five and a half years for abusing a 14-year-old girl he had groomed, at least partly, via MySpace.
