A 29 year old woman, Cristina M.R., died yesterday after being stabbed by her partner.
The incident occurred in calle Cigüeña in the Los Pajaritos area of Sevilla. The alleged assailant is also in hospital.
At around 15:45, police received a call from a man, 28 year old Pedro C.M., to say that he had committed a crime. Shortly afterwards, the Emergency Services received another call from a local resident to say that a man had just thrown himself from a fourth floor apartment.
Once on the scene, the Police and Emergency Services discovered the lifeless body of the woman in the apartment and the injured man on the street below.
The man was taken to the Virgen del Rocío hospital suffering from multiple injuries, including a fractured femur and tibia. His condition is said to be serious.
The couple have two young children.
It is also known that Cristina M.R. had twice made denuncias against her partner for abuse, the last occasion being in August 2008, although no judicial protection orders were in place.
Neighbours have stated that the man, recently made redundant, had a problem with alcohol and that arguments in the household were ‘habitual’.
