The Blue and Whites are, at least temporarily, up into the Uefa places after a 1-1 draw with Valencia. The first goal came in the second half of a very open game, scored almost inevitably by David Villa.
However, just seven minutes later, Málaga C.F. were back on level terms, a quick counter attack by Eliseu ending up with Valencia’s Albiol turning the ball into his own net.
Real Madrid have a chance to close the gap on Barcelona after the leaders were held to a 2-2 draw away to Betis. More like recovered to 2-2 really, as Barca had to come back from two goals down to earn the draw. Juan Melli and former Liverpool player Mark Gonzalez put Betis two up within 25 minutes. Eto’o pulled one back just before half time and then it wasn’t until six minutes before the end that Barcelona managed to grab an equaliser, Eto’o once again the scorer.
In the other match played on Saturday, Deportivo and Osasuna played out a 0-0 draw.
