The Mayor of Coín, Gabriel Clavijo, has been fined €520, banned from driving for a month and has had four points deducted from his licence after being found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Mayor was stopped at security checkpoint in December 2007 on his way back from a dinner party at a restaurant in Alhaurín el Grande. He was asked to take a breathaliser test, which he did…..and failed.
The Mayor is hoping that the offence, which he deems pertinent to his private life, will not be held against him in his political capacity.
