The search for the body of missing sevillana Marta del Castillo has resumed today with the security forces expanding the search area to cover the Rio Guadalquivir between Sevilla and San Lúcar de Barrameda in Cádiz province, a stretch of around 80 kilometres.
The currents in the river, combined with a lack of water clarity, are making the search for the body very difficult.
According to the latest reports, Marta died on the day of her ‘disappearance’. Her ex-boyfriend, Miguel C.D., is in custody as the prime suspect in the case and is said to have confessed to the killing.
He is thought to have driven to Marta’s house and, after an argument, dealt her a blow to the head which ended her life. He then removed the body to his car and drove to the Rio Guadalquivir where he threw the body into the water.
In the meantime, the family of Marta del Castillo have suffered 21 days of anguish, not knowing whether their daughter was alive or dead.
