The Atlantic ocean is the second largest ocean on the planet, covers one-fifth of the Earth’s surface and has a surface area of 106.4 million square kilometres.
If you were looking for something in that area you’d probably never find it in a million years, as they say, but two nuclear submarines managed to collide!
HMS Vanguard and the French sub Le Triomphant collided in the middle of the Atlantic, both vessels suffering serious damage. There were, however, no injuries amongst the crews of either vessel and both governments reported no breach of nuclear security. Not that they would tell us otherwise anyway.
