A Bahamas registered ship has this morning located a boat carrying 20 illegal immigrants, amongst them a woman and a baby.
A phone call from someone in Arsila, Morocco, to the Emergency Services alerted the authorities to the fact that a boat had left Arsila on Tuesday on its way to Spain. The caller was apparently worried because he had lost contact with the boat.
The Emergency Services alerted the Guardia Civil and a search was mounted involving a Maritime Rescue vessel, a helicopter and a Guardia Civil patrol boat.
The illegal immigrants were finally spotted early this morning about two miles off Tarifa by a Bahamas registered ship. They are now in Tarifa awaiting processing.
