Endesa is in the midst of recalculating electricity bills and the company will be refunding amounts overpaid without the necessity of people having to submit a claim, a situation demanded by the Junta de Andalucía following the huge public outcry regarding incorrect billing.
However, Endesa anticipates refunds to be a lot less than people are expecting. The company believes that the increase in most people’s bills is due to an increase in consumption due to the coldest winter for decades rather than as a result of any miscalculation.
The Consumers Association, however, beg to differ, blaming much of the problem on the practice of using estimated readings rather than actual figures.
