The Town Hall has decided which projects should benefit from funds being made available under yet another plan, the Plan for Sustainable Tourism, and has forwarded these to the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Oriental Axarquía for approval.
If approved, the Junta de Andalucía would provide 70% of the funding, the Town Hall 30%. The projects put forward are:
- Renovation of the Eagle Aquaduct at an estimated cost of €792,543.
- The building of an open air auditorium in the Parque Verano Azul, capable of holding 2,000 people, at a cost of €433,600. This is a project which should already have started but was postponed due to the delays in finishing the car park at Verano Azul/calle Chaparil.
- Remodeling of the promenade on Burriana beach, including the construction of underground rubbish containers, new paving, improved disabled access and new lighting. The cost of this project has been put at €595,000.
If approved, the Council would need to provide draft projects by June 2009.
