Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi scored to give Barcelona a fairly comfortable 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao and they now move six points clear at the top of La Liga after Real Madrid could only manage a draw.
Barcelona had numerous chances to increase the scoreline but failed to take advantage, while Real Madrid were rather lucky to come away with a draw in the local derby match with Atlético Madrid.
Diego Fórlan put Atlético ahead just before the break but twelve minutes into the second half, Huntelaar leveled the scores. It was Atlético who then upped the work rate and they had several great chances to win the match, including one where it would have been simpler to put the ball into the back of the net rather than shoot wide. In the end it was Atlético who had to settle for a draw.
