The Blue and Whites are up to fifth place in La Liga after a 1-2 win away to Getafe. Eliseu opened the scoring after thirty minutes and Duda added a second just before half time.
Málaga were reduced to ten men after Cuadrado was given his marching orders and Getafe took advantage, Contra scoring from a free kick.
The numbers were evened out for the last couple of minutes after Getafe’s Soldado was also dismissed from the pitch. Quite an ill-tempered match all in all, with thirteen yellow and 2 red cards handed out.
Sevilla held on to third place with a 2-1 win over Almería. Kanouté opened the scoring after only five minutes and then after about an hour, a mis-kick from Renato ended up in the net.
Negredo pulled one back a few minutes later through a penalty kick, but Sevilla held on to claim the three points.
