The Council in Canillas de Aceituno has included a project to build the first underground car park in the municipality as part of the funds available under the Fondo Estatal de Inversión Local – State Fund for Local Investment.
The car park, which is budgeted at €430,00, will have three floors undergound and be capable of housing 150 vehicles. It will be located in avenida de Andalucía and will also incorporate a new plaza, to be built at a cost of €135,000 and financed under yet another plan, the Plan Proteja.
The plaza will have a playground, leisure area, gymnastic equipment for the elderly and various other services.
At the moment, most visitors to the town are forced to leave their vehicles on the outskirts due to a lack of parking spaces in the centre itself and this new facility is designed to rectify this problem.
