A lovely day yesterday, so off to the beach to see if I could catch a fish. Credit crunches and all that, I decided rather than buy bait, I’d use either what I could find in the house or rely on locating something suitable at the beach. Half the time you spend more on bait than the fish, if you actually catch one, is worth!
Armed with a bit of bread and a slice of chorizo, natural foodstuffs for fishies, off I went.
It wasn’t too long before it became apparent that fish have little regard for chorizo. And the bread didn’t fare much better either. No mussels on the rocks, but plenty of limpets. Natural food, must work. If a limpet should loose it’s vice-like grip on the rocks and subsequently decide to leap out of it’s shell into the water, surely the fish would love it?
And lo and behold, it worked!
I have absolutely no idea what sort of fish this one was, just that it had a load of spines all over the place, so if anyone can identify it, please do!
Three more, different, ones followed this chap but they were getting smaller, and smaller…When the last one arrived, it was hardly bigger than the hook so I decided to call it a day as I hadn’t had the foresight to take a magnifying glass with me.
