Around 3,000 farmers and 1,000 tractors packed the centre of Jaén on Saturday to protest about the falling price of olive oil and other agricultural products.
The tractors set off from Campiña Sur, Campiña Norte, La Loma and Sierra Mágina, picking up additional members along the way and then heading down the A-316 and N-323-a to converge on Plaza de las Batallas. The journey took them two-and-a-half hours.
The farmers, already suffering from the effects of increased prices for such things as fertiliser and fuel, put much of the blame for falling oil prices and other basic commodities on the supermarkets.
