While many see luxury tourism, five-star hotels, marinas and golf courses as the way forward for the industry in many areas of the Costa del Sol, some of the existing five- star hotels are not doing particularly well at the moment.
Six of these five-star hotels along the coast have introduced various forms of employment regulation involving around six hundred workers.
Factors affecting these establishments include the fact that excessive construction of hotels in recent years has far outstripped demand and many regular visitors to the Costa del Sol have chosen the alternative of buying a second ‘holiday’ home.
Hotels such as Byblos, Incosol, Las Dunas, Puente Romano and Los Monteros are amongst those who are suffering at the moment.
