The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo Navas, has written to the Department of Environment of the Junta de Andalucía requesting that the proposed new botanical gardens in Maro be named ‘Jardín Botánico Detunda’.
Hopefully this wont lead to endless debate, reports and delays for the project. The village of Maro stands on the site of an old Roman fort, ‘Detunda’, dating back to the 1st and 2nd Centuries B.C., hence the reason for wanting ‘Jardín Botánico Detunda’.
