Frigiliana Council is working on its first Plan General de Ordenación Urbana (PGOU), agreed with the Junta de Andalucía to ensure that there is no repeat of what happened in 2007 when the first draft was rejected.
The new plan covers the construction of a maximum 250 homes in the town, an industrial estate on the border with Nerja, a new cemetery, a feria ground and new pedestrian and road access to the north.
The idea is to have initial approval for the new PGOU by the summer and to complete the formalities for final approval before the end of the year.
The Councillor for Urban Planning, Francisco Moyano, stated that the Council was, at the same time, also working on adapting the subsidiary rules in force relating to the Ley de Ordenación Urbanística de Andalucía (LOUA) – Urban Planning Act of Andalucía – and that everything was being carried out in consultation with the Junta de Andalucía in order to avoid any problems.
