The Nerja Town Hall has received the preliminary results of tests carried out on the coastal waters of the municipality on March 16th.
The tests were carried out by the Axarquia Sanitation Department, part of the Institute of Health which, in turn, is part of the Health Department of the Junta de Andalucía.
Water samples were taken from El Playaza, Torrecilla, Burriana, Balcón de Europa and Maro beaches. Analysis found no enetrococci, mineral oils, decomposing algae, floating solid waste or residual waste which would have an effect on bathing in the sea.
In other words, all the waters along the Nerja coastline, without exception, have been certified as ‘suitable for bathing’.
The Councilor for Punlic Health, Andrés Márquez Castro, expressed his satisfaction with the results of the health tests, especially considering the added difficulty faced by the municipality, namely the lack of a water purification plant.
