Nerja Council is looking at ways of improving the Tourist Train service, including extending the service to cover Maro and the Nerja Caves.
Any such extension is only possible after the Council assumes control of the old N-340 coastal road within the municipality, but this move is already in progress.
The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, held a meeting with the head of the Maro Employers Association, Miguel Valverde Muñoz, to discuss this and other matters.
The Mayor made a commitment to improve the promotion of Maro as a tourist destination and a new brochure is being planned.
On the infrastructure side, the Mayor was asked about the repairs to the road leading down to the beach, a project which is the responsibility of Nerja Council. The Mayor responded by saying that the contractor carrying out the project had withdrawn and that a new company is being sought to take over the works.
