The new Nerja History Museum is to become part of the Red de Espacio Museísticos de la Junta de Andalucía (Network of Museum Spaces of Andalucía), a move which will open various possibilities for assistance with the project.
This move was announced by the Provincial Delegate from the Ministry of Culture, Manuel Jesús García, following a visit to the site in the company of the manager of the Nerja Caves Foundation, Ángel Ramírez.
The second phase of construction work on the museum is scheduled to begin in May and the tender specifications are currently being finalised. This second phase has been budgeted at €1,8 million and it is hoped that the museum will open at some time during 2010.
