The residencial care centre for the elderly and sick, the project started by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan in 2001, looks likely to be completed in 2010 now that all the financing seems to have been sorted out.
The building, located in Almijara and overlooking the Rio Chillar, is currently 60% complete. The total cost of the project will be €3.3 million. The final €1.5 million to complete the works has come via a loan from the Cajamar bank.
Many local businesses and individuals have contributed towards the cost of the project, including local hero Antonio Cortes who, after winning the Canal Sur contest ‘Tengo una canción para ti’ on Saturday, donated his prize money to the Sisters of the Good Samaritan.
