The Consumer Action group FACUA has denounced a ‘phishing’ attempt using the name of the fast food chain McDonalds to try and get people to part with bank and credit card details.
An email from [email protected] asks people to fill in a customer satisfaction survey with the promise of a €50 gift.
After completing the survey on a website bearing the McDonalds logo, people are asked for their bank and credit card information, including PIN number, to enable the transfer of the ‘gift’.
This phishing attempt appears to stem from a Japanese domain and, like with so many of these types of cons, the text is full of spelling mistakes.Despite this pretty obvious giveaway, however, people do still fall for these frauds.
