Continued complaints from residents and businesses in the historical centre of Nerja regarding inadequacies in the electricty supply have resulted in the Council reaching an agreement with Sevillana-Endesa to build a new sub-station.
The sub-station, similar to the one built in Maro a couple of years ago, is to be located in the Los Huertos de Carabeo area (where the market couldn’t go) after an agreement was reached with the owners of the land.
The total cost of around €100,000 is to be borne entirely by Sevillana-Endesa. The formal agreements have still to be signed but work on this new station could start ‘soon’ and be completed by the summer.
The new sub-station will apparently allow for the installation of electrical systems to several bars, restaurants and cafes in the area which up till now were not supported by the main network.
