At the regular Council meeting on Wednesday, only six out of twenty-three agenda items were covered, and at an extraordinary meeting on Thursday, only four out of a possible twenty items were addressed. The sessions, through the agreement of all parties, last four hours.

At yesterday’s meeting, there was once again intense debate on matters relating to the Nerja Caves, hardly surprising as the opposition spokesman, Ángel Ramírez, is also the manager of the Nerja Caves Foundation.
The PP, using their absolute majority, approved a motion to once again request the Junta de Andalucía to become involved in the financing of the Nerja History Museum. At the same time, Armijo attacked the PSOE spokesman/manager of the Caves Foundation for not being able to enlist the support of fellow government socialists on the subject of financing.
The PP, once again using their absolute majority, approved a motion to ask the Costa del Sol Tourist Board to sponsor the Nerja Athletics Club.
The PP and PSOE did manage to agree on a motion to support the retention, on the beaches, of ‘chiringuitos’.
The PSOE spokesman, Ángel Ramírez, criticised these sort of motions as a ‘pantomime’ designed to camouflage the real issues needing to be addressed, such as the PGOU, new Health Centre and the Water Treatment Plant.
