The Feria del Caballo de Jerez de la Frontera (Jerez Horse Fair) begins today, Sunday, at 22:00 with the ceremonial switching on of the lights in the Parque González Hontoria.
The feria continues until May 17th and is being sponsored by González Byass and is being dedicated to the Copa de la Paz, the international football tournament which aims to ‘unite the world through football, promoting peace and equality’ and whose proceeds are intended for social purposes.
The Council has authorised 224 stands or booths in the Parque González Hontoria and they are asking the operators to take account of the current economic situation when setting prices so that the less well-off in the community can also participate fully in the celebrations.
The Council is also setting up a scooter and helmet ‘store’. For €2 you can park your scooter for the whole day and for an extra €1 you can also safely park your helmet. All the proceeds are going to the Brote de Vida, an organisation helping former drug addicts.
