This is the last weekend for skiing as the Sierra Nevada resort prepares to close at the end of what has been an historic season.
The winter in Andalucía has seen six months of regular snow during the period November 15th to May 17th and some areas still have two to three metres of good snow. Despite this, though, the company running the resort, CETURSA, has decided not to extend the season. They have also decided upon having fixed closing dates in the future, regardless of the prevailing conditions.
During this record season, there was more snow than ever before and, on several occasions, over 100 kilometres of pistes were open to the public. Very few dyas were lost due to adverse weather conditions this year.
