PP victorious in European elections

In the European elections, the centre-right parties have emerged victorious with the UK Labour Party, German Social Democrats and French Socialist Party suffering heavy defeats.

In Spain, the Partido Popular came out on top with 23 seats (42.4% of the votes) with the  socialist PSOE collecting 21 seats (38.51% of the votes).

The CEU got 2 MEP’s, the UPyD got 1 and the EdpV got one as well. Turnout in Spain was 46%, a bit higher than the European average of 43%.

In the UK, the ruling Labour Party slipped down to third place behind the UKIP and the extremist BNP won their first ever seat in the European Parliament.

In Sweden, the Pirate Party gained 7% of the votes and now have an MEP.
