A fire in Padul, Granada, has destroyed a paint factory. Some twenty families were evacuated from the homes as firefighters battled the blaze.
The fire started at 16:50 on Sunday afternoon at a paint factory on calle Bubión. Firefighters from the Parque Norte-Centro Fire Department, Guardia Civil, Local Police and members of the Emergency Services then cordoned off the area around the perimeter of the factory and began evacuating residents from their homes.
Once the fire had been brough under control and then extinguished, the local residents were allowed back to their homes.
The factory was completely destroyed, and the owner says it will be two years before it is fully operational again. In addition to material losses suffered by the owner, the loss of the factory is a blow to the local economy.
