At 08:00 this morning, the Emergency Services in Tarifa received a call from a vessel about 10 miles off the coast. The small, pneumatic dinghy was carrying 57 passengers, eight of them young children.
Maritime Rescue and Guardia Civil officers intercepted the boat, a seven metre dinghy, at around 09:55 and escorted the occupants to Tarifa.
On board were 32 men, 17 women and 8 young children. The passengers had no idea where they were, hence they called the Emergency Services.
