Police in Spain and France have detained four people and seized 92 kilos of heroin in the biggest drugs bust so far this year.
In Madrid, police arrested the leader of the network and seized 15.6 kilos of heroin. The drugs were being transported in a suitcase. The leader of the group is a man of Kurdish-Iranian origin with a Swedish passport living in Barcelona and with connections to Turkey.
In the French town of Argeles-Sur-Mer, police found 76.5 kilos of heroin belonging to the gang. Sold as individual doses, the drugs would have yielded €16.5 million on the open market. Sold by the gram the amount would have been in the region of €8 million.
