Two officers from the Maritime Service of the Guardia Civil have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in drugs smuggling.
The officers are alleged to have been involved with a shipment of drugs brought ashore at the mouth of the Río Almanzora in Almería on July 4th.
The drugs, 3.5 tons of hashish, were being brought ashore from a 14 metre boat and loaded into two waiting vans when Guardia Civil and Customs officers made their move, arresting six people. As the investigation progressed and statements were made by the detainees, the two Maritime Service officers were arrested.
