A 27 year old man died in hospital after being gored by one of the bulls during the bull running at the San Fermin festival in Pamplona.
Daniel Gimeno Romero, a 27 year old Madrileno who lived in Alcalá de Henares, was taking part in the fourth day of bull running when he was gored in the neck by a 550 kilo bull by the name of ‘Capuchino’.
Six bulls began the ‘run’ but things began to go wrong when ‘Capuchino’ fell behind the rest and started to ram the fences of the enclosure. Half a dozen people were injured. One was gored in the abdomen, one in the leg and one in the buttocks and several suffered dislocations and bruising.
Daniel Gimeno Romero was gored in the neck, the downward strike reaching his lungs. He was rushed to the Hospital Virgen del Camino in Pamplona in a critical condition. Surgeons tried to save his life but the wounds were fatal and at 08:45, Daniel Gimeno Romero was certified dead.
He was identified by members of his family, including his mother, who were also in Pamplona for the festivities. An autopsy is being carried out.
