The draw was recently made for the 13 Viviendas de Protección Oficial (subsidised housing) in urbanisation La Noria. However, the economic crisis is still taking its toll and the draw will have to be made again.
When the draw is made, ‘reserves’ are also drawn in case one or two of the lucky winners have to pull out in the event of being unable to raise the necessary financing or are subsequently found to be ineligible for some reason.
However, on this occasion the number of withdrawals has exceeded the number of reserves and the draw will have to be made again, the new date and place being the Sports Pavillion on July 17th.
The majority of withdrawals are due to the inability to obtain credit for the purchase of the houses, something which has not happened in the past.
At the same time as the re-draw on July 17th, the draw will also be made for 12 VPO houses to be built in Las Gaviotas. The Council proposes to increase the number of reserves, currently ten, in order to avoid a similar situation occurring.
