An autopsy carried out on 24 year old Noelia Pérez Pérez, the missing jet ski passenger whose body was found about 45 miles from Benalmádena, points to hyp0thermia and drowning as the probable cause of death.
The autopsy was carried out at the Instituto de Medicina Legal (IML) in Málaga and concludes that Noelia could have suffered from hyp0thermia which then led to her drowning. The water temperature in the area was estimated at between 16 and 20 degrees.
Noelia disappeared on Monday after setting off from Tarifa on a jet ski excursion. At some point, she and her friend fell from the machine and, as is the habit with jet skis, it continued on its way. The pair managed to stay together for some time but were later separated.
The excusrsion included several other jet skis and a boat, and one of the passengers alerted the authorities to the situation and a search began for the missing girl. Her body was eventually recovered about 45 miles off Benalmádena.
