The Department of Coasts has approved a request by Estepona Council to maintain nineteen chiringuitos (beach bars) on the beaches in the municipality.
The bars will be granted administrative licenses and most will be allowed to remain in their current locations. One or two, however, may have to move slightly.
There are also restrictions placed on the height of new structures, the maximum height being five metres. The agreement was reached after the Councilor for beaches, Carmen Ocaña, visited Madrid for a meeting with Pablo Martín, the deputy director of the Dominio Público Marítimo-Terrestre of the Ministry of Environment.
