Five minors have been detained as the alleged rapists of a 13 year old girl in Isla Cristina. Two others, aged 13 years, cannot be charged under the current law and have been released.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday during the feria celebrations. The girl was taken by a group of seven minors to the nearest beach, Punta del Caimán, and allegedly raped. A subsequent medical examination carried out at the Hospital Infanta Elena in Huelva confirmed sexual assault.
Two of the group involved in the alleged rape were 13 years old and, as such, cannot be charged as the law now stands.
