The president of the Partido Popular, Mariano Rajoy, stated yesterday that he intends to introduce a motion in Congress to reform the Ley del Menor (Children’s Act) in the wake of the the incident in Baena where a thirteen year old girl was allegedly raped by a group of minors.
Rajoy said that he wants to see more protection for ‘honest, decent and normal’ juveniles who are attacked by other juveniles. He also referred to other cases, including those of Mari Luz in Huelva and Marta del Castillo in Sevilla, saying that, in his view, the current law protects juvenile offenders.
