A forest fire in the Alpujarras in Granada province, which began at around 02:00 this morning, has been stabilised although it is not totally under control.
Intense heat has meant that the fire keeps reviving, although its progress has been halted. The fire is on an area of scrub land near Alcútar between the towns of Bérchules and Cádiar.
The town of Bérchules is currently celebrating a fiesta in honour of its patron saint, San Pantaléon. Last year, a similar fire occurred in the town, apparently caused by one of the fiesta rockets.
