The fire currently raging in Avila has claimed a second victim, this time one of the workers involved in fighting the blaze.
The victim was a bulldozer foreman, one of a number of workers drafted in by the Comunidad de Madrid to help extinguish the blaze in the Valle del Tiétar, in Avila.
The fire, classified Level 2, remains active around the towns of Arenas de San Pedro, El Arenal and Mombeltrán. The blaze, which is thought to have been started intentionally, had already claimed the life of one man living in the remote area of Las Majadas in Arenas de San Pedro.
