The refurbishment of calle Chorruelo in the historical centre of Frigiliana is causing a bit of controversy amongst some residents and the opposition political parties. The cause of the problem?
Granite. The opposition parties, and some residents, believe that the use of granite destroys the traditional aesthetics of the street and that it’s use violates municipal ordinances and could jeopardise the receipt of grants for the project.
The Council (PA) responded by stating that only a small amount of granite is being used and it is an attempt to improve grip and prevent slipping. The project has a budget of €181,000.
