Military planes, helicopters and 500 firemen are fighting a huge blaze on La Palma in the Canary Islands, with around 4,000 people having been evacuated from their homes, some othem only moments before their houses went up in smoke.
Gusting winds of up to 70 kph have been hampering efforts to control the fire, which started in the area known as Puente Roto at around 23:00 on Saturday, and the authorities are hoping for a change in the weather and more favourable conditions today.
