Over 100 police officers took part in Operation Corralito in Jerez, resulting in the detention of 29 people on charges of conspiracy and crimes against the public health. Although the results of the investigation have been decreed secret, it is thought that several police officers could be implicated in some manner.
The police raided sixteen houses during the operation, which is still ongoing, and seized three kilos of cocaine hydrochloride, eleven vehicles, two handguns, more than 20,000 euros in cash and a large amount of jewelry.
The authorities are also investigating a property, at the top end of the market, thought to have been acquired through the use of money derived from drugs trafficking.
Most of the detainees belong to the same family and they are known to have had connections with Colombian drugs suppliers in Madrid.
