The Nerja Caves photo exhibition held in the Sala Municipal de Exposiciones (Municipal Exhibition Hall) from July 3rd to August 3rd, only open from 20:00 to 00:00 each day, has broken all attendance records according to official figures.
The exhibition, entitled ‘José Padial, photographer of the Nerja Caves’, not only included photos taken by José Padial but also those of many visitors over the years. Photos from the Caves Concerts were also on show.
Over 9,000 people visited the exhibition during the month it was open with a huge 700 attending on the last Sunday. José Padial was responsible for taking the very first pictures of the caves following their discovery in 1959, and event which had a dramatic impact on Nerja.
The exhibition has been coordinated by José Antonio Jimena, nephew of the photographer and author of the book (published by CEDAW) entitled ‘José Padial, fotógrafo de la Cueva de Nerja’.
