Workers from Spanair General Services in Palma have today begun strike action which will continue for an indefinite period.
The dispute relates to the proposed transfer of personnel to Barcelona, the workers wanting the move, scheduled to begin on September 15th, to be put off for six months. The two sides can’t even agree on the number of workers involved in the move, General Services quoting 480, Spanair saying the figure is 382.
The strikes are currently scheduled for Monday and Friday each week but the workers are not ruling out the possibility that this could be extended to other days during the rest of August.
Spanair say they have no plans to cancel any flights at the current time.
