Today, Monday, is the 73rd anniversary of the death of Blas Infante, regarded as the father of Andalucian autonomy.
Blas Infante was executed by the forces of General Franco in 1936 on the road to Carmona.
Today, the official act of homage will take place in Parliament with a wreath being placed near the bust of Blas Infante to the accompaniment of the Andalucian anthem played by the Banda Municipal de Cantillana. This will be followed by a reading of excerpts of some of the works of Blas Infante by his grand children, Francisco and María Delmás, and a speech by María de los Angeles Infante who is president of the Blas Foundation.
Tomorrow, a wreath will be placed next to the monument to Blas Infante at kilometre 4 on the road to Carmona. This particular ceremony was, until three years ago, the official act of homage to this revered patriot but since then, this institutional act has been transferred to Parliament.
Yesterday, Sunday, several acts of homage took place, one being in Sevilla. A crowd gathered outside the old Jáuregui cinema, once a Fascist prison, to pay their respects.
