Around seventy people were evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure after a tanker carrying nitric acid overturned in San Roque, Cádiz.
The accident occurred at the Guadarranque roundabout in the La Estación district of San Roque. Although the Emergency Services found no leaks from the overturned tanker and considered the risk of toxic fumes minimal, it was nevertheless decided to evacuate people in the immediate vicinity as a precautionary measure.
The road around the accident scene was cordoned off for several hours as firefighters and other personnel began the task of removing the tanker section from the cab of the lorry and removing it from the scene.
The evacuated residents were able to return to their homes late last night.
