Cómpeta is getting ready for its most important festival of the year, the Noche del Vino, which takes place on Saturday August 15th.
The festival, now in its 34th year, begins at 11:00 with a Mass in honour of the patron saint, the Virgen de la Asunción. From 12:00, in the Plaza de la Vendimia, there will be various speeches and prizes will be given to various local citizens.
Migas and Muscatel wine are the order of the day and around 5,000 litres of the local wine will be available for sampling.
In the evening the action moves to the Plaza de La Almijara and at 23:30, the delegate for Tourism from the Junta de Andalucía, Luciano Alonso, will officially open the Noche del Vino.
