A total of 31 people lost their lives on the roads in Spain between 15:00 on Friday and midnight on Sunday, with a further 9 people seriously injured.
There were 24 accidents and included 13 cases of vehicles leaving the road and 8 collisions. Speeding was the major factor in 9 of the deaths and driver distraction in a further 9 cases.
So far this year, 1,231 people have been killed on the roads, 163 less than during the same period last year, a decline of 11.6%.
