On Wednesday, a business man who runs two currency exchange establishments in Benalmádena was relieved of around €40,000 by armed robbers.
On Wednesday morning, the man, accompanied by his wife, went to the bank to collect currency for their businesses. He then dropped his wife at the first exchange office, leaving her with a portion of the cash, and drove to his second office.
He parked his car in an alleyway near the office and was about to open up when he was set upon by two youths. One of the attackers put a gun to his neck and demanded that he hand over the money, which he did. The two youths then made their escape on a moped.
The thieves had obviously been stalking their victim.
It is not the first time the man has been robbed at gunpoint. A year ago he was accosted in his garage at his home in a very similar robbery, the thieves also threatening him with a gun and making off with a similar amount of money, €40,000.
